Economic Development Council of Bloomington-Normal
The EDC is the region’s private public partnership for economic development. Its mission is to grow the local economy by assisting with local business expansion, recruiting new businesses and companies to the area, and encouraging the next wave of entrepreneurs to establish their business in the Bloomington-Normal Metro Region.
McLean County Regional Planning Commission
Established in 1966 by the McLean County Board, the McLean County Regional Planning Commission (MCRPC) is responsible for coordinating long range planning in Bloomington-Normal and the McLean County Region. This responsibility is divided among the four divisions of community planning, transportation planning, education and outreach, and geographic information systems (GIS).
The eleven-member commission includes non-elected appointees representing Bloomington, Normal and McLean County, as well as appointees representing District #87 and Unit #5 Schools, Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority, and Bloomington-Normal Water Reclamation District. The commission employs an executive director and professional staff to develop and execute its work program on behalf of its membership in support of the agency mission.
McLean County Chamber of Commerce
The McLean County Chamber of Commerce is the premier business organization in McLean County. To support its nearly 1,000 members, the Chamber promotes local commerce, advocates business perspectives, creates relevant programs, and establishes relationships for business success.
The work of the McLean County Chamber of Commerce is vital to the success of the community. We address the concerns of businesses large and small such as: affordable health care, networking, advocacy, transportation and growth. The Chamber also serves as the primary community resource for individuals seeking information about the business climate or the quality of life in McLean County.
Bloomington-Normal Area Convention and Visitors Bureau
The mission of the Bloomington-Normal Area Convention and Visitors Bureau is to enhance the economy of McLean County through promotion, attraction and retention of events, conventions and tourism.
Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority
Owned by the Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority, the Central Illinois Regional Airport (CIRA) is one of the most important travel gateways in the Midwest U.S. Daily flights are available to Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Detroit, Minneapolis-St. Paul and beyond. The airport is conveniently located offering ease of access for residents, business travelers and visitors. American, Delta, and Allegiant airlines provide service to Central Illinois Regional Airport.
